My Grand Son

I know somewhere across the miles
There's a little boy with sunny smiles.
My daughter's baby, soft and sweet
How I hope someday we'll meet.

In my memory there's a night,
When I held him oh so tight,
Blinded by my unshed tears
I'd soon be gone for many years.

What kind of person will he be,
Will he ever think of me,
I hope he'll love me even though,
His grand-ma he might never know.

Here in my room I feel so sad,
While looking at that little lad,
In a frame upon the wall,
My little grandson, grow strong and tall.
